Dear friends and companions of Malteser International,
Winter is approaching in many parts of the world - including Ukraine, where temperatures can drop to -20 degrees. It is already getting colder at night and people are facing extreme hardship: Missile attacks have destroyed more than a third of Ukrainian power stations and power outages become a daily reality.
Around seven million people have fled within Ukraine since the outbreak of the war. Many live in damaged houses or in makeshift shelters. If the energy supply collapses, a new wave of people is expected to flee from the badly damaged east to the west of the country in pursuit of warmth.
For several weeks now, we have therefore been preparing winter aid measures to provide our colleagues on the ground with the best possible support. Our psychosocial services - especially for women and children – will continue and in addition, we support our partner Malteser in Ukraine in the procurement of relief goods, such as generators, solar batteries, warm blankets which are distributed throughout the country. The renovation and winterization of houses and community shelters has already begun and is another key component of our winter aid in Ukraine.
Thanks to your support we have achieved much already. And we need your continued support – there is no end in sight to the war and the suffering of the people in Ukraine.
Together we can make a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Yours sincerely,
|

| Pakistan: Fear of hunger and epidemics
In the province of Sindh, Malteser International supports two mobile medical teams of a local partner organization in order to be able to treat sick people on site. One of them is Mojhan Partab. The 34-year-old from the village of Niaz Muhammad Kapri is pregnant. She lost her home and all her savings in the flood.
