Dear friends,
"These are the small but meaningful successes, that motivate our work on the ground", says Yolette Etienne, project coordinator for Malteser International in Haiti, about an emotional experience she had on the 14th of August with a 12-year old girl. The little girl had been severly injured by the recent earthquake in Haiti, her home was fully destroyed, leaving her family with nothing but rubble. Tragically, this seems to be the case with many other families in Haiti.
Fortunately, the girl has received medical aid and her injuries have been healing since then. Such relief efforts would have never been possible without people like Yolette Etienne who are on the ground in the affected areas. She has been working tirelessly since the earthquake: Tarpaulins have been distributed to the people who have lost their homes, health stations and hospitals have been provided with medicine and other medical supplies. Furthermore, we have distributed cash to families who have hardly any resources left, so that their survival in the upcoming days is secured and they are able to supply themselves with basic everyday necessities.
But more help is urgently needed! More than 500,000 people have not yet been able to get the support they need since the earthquake nearly a month ago, so we're kindly asking for your continued support. With it, we will not only continue to save many lives, but we will also give the people of Haiti renewed hope for a life filled with dignity. Please donate and help!
Thank you very much for your support.
Yours truly,
