Dear Friends,
This Lent, you’re invited to help counter deforestation and poverty in Uganda.
Uganda has lost more than half of its forest cover due to deforestation in the last 25 years. In northern Uganda, the local community use firewood for farming and everyday needs like cooking. The arrival of over 1 million refugees in the region has added on the already high pressure on land. This had led to soil degradation, flooding, and prolonged drought.
Malteser International is working with local partners to regenerate the region’s ecosystem by planting native, subtropical trees, and supporting an ecofriendly use of land resources. Our goal is to restore around 90 hectares of trees.
With your help, we can plant trees that clean the air, support biodiversity, and sustain livelihoods for families in Uganda.
Join us as we work together to sustainably inhabit our common home, protect God’s creation, and ensure a sustainable future for vulnerable communities.
Yours truly
