Dear Friends,

Dealing with COVID-19 is like a marathon, not a sprint. Relaxing lockdown rules may give us a sense that a finish line is near, but the pandemic is gathering pace in many parts of the world, especially in countries with weaker health structures. Cameroon issued a request for international assistance after seeing a rapid rise in infections and our Emergency Medical Team is now in the country supporting local healthcare efforts to contain further spread of the virus.

The pandemic has also exposed existing frailties in our societies. Structural inequalities mean many marginalized and vulnerable groups, including the record-setting 80 million people now displaced, are hit harder by the coronavirus. While we fight COVID-19, we must also work to curb the pandemics of social injustice and racial discrimination that persist globally.

Because the absence of justice can undermine peace and health, we remain committed to working for dignity, equality, and justice for the most marginalized groups in the world. I know we can continue to count on your support!
