Dear friends and supporters of Malteser International,
Humanitarian aid is currently undergoing a historic transformation. One of the most fundamental consequences: a rapid decrease in global funding for aid projects. Refugees and displaced people in particular have lately seen their situation grow rapidly more precarious. At the same time, violence and conflict force even more families to flee – more than 117 million people had to live away from their homes last year.
Health and dignity for refugees and displaced people Nearly sixty percent of all people on the run are internally displaced. Many others seek safety in neighboring countries. Providing effective health support for them is often challenging – but always crucial. In 2025, we supported over 700,000 refugees and internally displaced people in some of the largest humanitarian crises in the world through our health work.

Millions rely on all of us Over eight million people in 33 countries relied on our support in 2025 – they are counting on us again in 2026 and beyond. New approaches and joint action will be required in the future to sustain the urgently needed aid. We will continue to invest in the efficiency and effectiveness of our organization, translating the Order of Malta’s 900-year tradition of charitable work into modern, global relief efforts.
Thank you for your commitment, your trust, and your belief in our mission. |
Yours sincerely,
Clemens Graf von Mirbach-Harff General Secretary at Malteser International |
