Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear friends and companions of Malteser International,
Once again, a year is coming to an end and the christmas season is about to begin.
Family, friends and beloved ones all come together in their own familiar environment. It is a time of arrival and return. A time to reflect, relax and recharge. At home.
A home, something that many take for granted and evident. But unfortunately, we know that it is not. In 2020 over 82 million people worldwide were on the run - forced to leave their homes. According to a UNHCR estimate, by mid-2021 it increased to 84 million (source: UNHCR Mid-Year Trends 2021 report). These people do not have the opportunity neither choice to return, be within familiar surroundings or simply spend some days at home.
We at Malteser International have been committed to helping displaced people worldwide for many years. It is one of the central issues of our time and one of the focal points of our work.
Our Christmas campaign this year #MomentsOfHome focuses on these refugees. We spoke with them, people who had to leave their home, who no longer have a home.
They are marked by memories. They are told by people who had to leave their home behind without knowing when and if they will ever be able to return.
What reminds them of their home, what gives them a feeling of home, show their #MomentsOfHome.
With the best wishes for this pre-christmas season,
Thank you very much.
Yours truly,
|

| Home is my house in Myanmar
The people in the refugee camps of Bangladesh are suffering under the loss of their homes. We may not be able to give them back their homes. But what we can do is stand by them and support them during this difficult time. More #MomentsOfHome stories from Bangladesh and a chance to support you can find here:

| Home for me is security
Malek Maznook used to live in Syria with his two sons and his wife. War has been raging there for over ten years. Three years ago, the Maznook family fled to a refugee camp. Our partner organization Independent Doctors Association and we asked Malek Maznook what home means to him. You can see his answers in this video.
