At St. Josephine Bakhita Primary School in South Sudan, the children are happy to receive a warm meal with rice and beans every day. Deputy Head Teacher Zachariah Malis Raphael has seen the transformation. Children no longer fall ill, absenteeism is not an issue anymore, and they can concentrate much better in class. An agreement that will make a concrete contribution to the humanitarian response in the #Gaza Strip was signed today between the Czech Republic and the #OrderofMalta.  Under the agreement, Prague will donate 80,000 euro to the Order’s health, and humanitarian assistance project in Gaza, which take place in collaboration with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem.  https://lnkd.in/dRZ_zf8T

173 million people urgently need humanitarian #WASH assistance in 2025 - but only 6.6% of the required $3.2 billion has been secured so far. Despite its centrality to survival and public health, WASH remains one of the least funded sectors in humanitarian response. In 2025, only 6.6% of the required $3.2 billion has been secured - leaving millions without access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene.   That’s why the Global WASH Cluster, the WASH Road Map, and partners have launched the 2025 Call to Action for Survival and Resilient WASH. 📢 Did you know? Every 30 seconds, someone in the world dies from a hepatitis-related illness -even though most types are preventable or treatable. Today is World Hepatitis Day, and we want to help raise awareness about this disease. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by a variety of infectious viruses and noninfectious agents. Five hepatitis viruses - hepatitis A, B, C, D and E - can infect humans and cause hepatitis. Hepatitis B and C can lead to chronic infection, increasing the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. Treatment and prevention is available, such as an effective cure for hepatitis C and vaccines for hepatitis B. Khamisa had to flee her home country Sudan due to the war and now lives in a refugee camp in the outskirts of the South Sudanese capital Juba. Access to clean water here is a major challenge. Pakistan is home to approximately 1.5 million registered Afghan refugees — women, men, and children seeking safety and stability. Among them is Shafique Khan, who lives in Utmanzai, a refugee camp near the Afghan border. Life in the camp is incredibly challenging. The inadequate drainage system leads to the spread of infectious diseases, putting already vulnerable families at even greater risk. That’s why Shafique is deeply grateful for the free medical care available at the local Basic Health Unit.
