Gorgine is a brave woman. She tells us the story about how she fled from DR Congo to Uganda. About 45,000 people fled the DR Congo in May 2020 to escape the fighting between militias in the eastern province of Ituri. Thousands of them were stranded at the Ugandan border, which is currently closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Uganda opened the border for about 3,000 refugees. They have gone weeks without adequate access to food, clean drinking water, and shelter. About two thirds of them are children. We are supporting the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in caring for the refugees by providing water canisters, soap and water tanks. After a two-week quarantine, they will be able to join the refugee camps. Learn more about our work in Uganda: https://mint.ngo/3fafqMM Video: Nyokabi Kahura/Malteser International
