Dear Friends,
The message of Christmas is contained in a simple, yet profound story: one of a newborn, forced to flee with his parents to a foreign country, and dependent on the hospitality of strangers. Jesus Christ was himself a refugee in the truest sense of the world!
This story of forced migration and helplessness is painfully familiar in today's world. This Christmas, once again, the suffering that comes with displacement will overshadow the festive season for millions of families who, like Jesus and his family, have been forced to flee their homes because of war, violence, hunger, or disaster.
As we reach the end of 2019 and begin our journey into a new year, I invite you to reflect on their ongoing plight and give yourselves to their service.
Thank you so much for your support for our work this year. Because of you, our mission to promote health and dignity for people in need continues - encouraged by Hope himself, who was born to us at Christmas.
On behalf of everyone at Malteser International, I wish you and your families Merry Christmas and God's rich blessings for the New Year.
Yours truly,
Ingo Radtke,
Secretary General
