Dear Friends,

Advent is upon us! That can only mean one thing: Christmas is fast approaching. In the busyness of the preparations leading up to Christmas, it is easy to become so distracted that we lose sight of the real reason for the season: the gift of Emmanuel, “God with us.”

So, in looking at the center of Christmas and its Christian message; God's gift to us, we are reminded of our mission to serve the world's most vulnerable, bringing them the gifts of humanity, generosity and hope. This Christmas, our appeal is focusing on empowering people in need, especially children, to fulfill their hopes and dreams. So if you're looking to give back something as you open the doors of your advent calendars, you can put aside a donation each day of advent and support our work.

Restoring malnourished children in DR Congo to health, caring for Venezuelan refugees stranded in Colombia, or helping homeless children in Burundi recover from the trauma of abuse and neglect - whatever you choose, you’re sure to give a gift that will transform someone's life and give them a future in health and dignity.

I wish you and your families a very blessed Advent.

Ingo Radtke,
Secretary General
