Bringing aid to remote regions of Iraq

In 2017 Dohuk and Ninewa in northern Iraq (located in today's autonomous region of Kurdistan) were liberated from the so-called Islamic State (IS). Months after the military operations, the humanitarian situation in these regions has remained rather precarious. More than 6 million people are still in need of humanitarian aid according to the 2019 Humanitarian Response Plan.

People in Dohuk and Ninewa face the challenge of a new start

Many displaced persons from the communities are unwilling to return. The region is still fraught with security problems, political and interreligious tensions, as well as a lack of infrastructure and services. Even when returnees come home, they will still need additional support to rebuild their lives. The communities need some degree of stabilization. Not only have their homes and health facilities been destroyed, many people have lost their livelihoods and many others have been traumatized by the horrors of the long years of violent conflict.

Our goal: Helping the people gain a foothold in their ancestral homes:

By providing the people with essential assistance, we hope to address their immediate humanitarian needs and help them reestablish themselves in their homelands. This is how you can help:
